Excessive crying
A small baby can only express physical discomfort or emotional distress by crying. Every baby cries occasionally when they are hungry, uncomfortable, or in pain, but some babies appear to cry frequently for no apparent reason. Most parents are able to identify the most frequent causes of their baby’s crying and respond to them as necessary. If your baby consistently cries more frequently than you believe is typical, or if your baby suddenly starts to cry in an odd way or for no apparent cause, follow the questionnaire above.
Gas
During feedings, young newborns frequently ingest air. notably those enthusiastic feeders who suck voraciously before every feed. It is a good idea to spend some time assisting your baby to bring up gas after each feed because too much gas in the gut causes regurgitation of feeds and may be related to discomfort and crying.
Positions for burping
Make sure your infant is maintained in a semi-upright position while being fed.
By putting your infant against your shoulder over your knee or your lap after feedings, you can assist your child in bringing up gas.
