There are numerous disorders of the penis or the urinary tract that can cause pain in the penis or soreness of the area around it. Many uncomfortable conditions of the penis are brought on by tiny wounds like bruising or abrasion, which may have occurred while playing a physical sport or from friction with clothing. However, it is important that any pain or change in your penis’ appearance that is not caused by a similar injury be recognized by your doctor at an early stage so that any necessary treatment can be started.
BLOOD IN SEMEN
Your semen may have pink, crimson, or brown streaks if there is blood present. Hemospermia is the name for this unusual condition. It occurs from the rupturing of tiny veins in the upper urethra during an erection. These resolve on their own in a matter of minutes, however the semen may remain slightly stained for a few days following.
What needs to be done?
Although blood in the semen is typically not a problem, you should still see your doctor. He or she might want to make sure the urinary tract is not the source of any underlying issues.
GENERIC HYGIENE
Paying close attention to genital cleanliness is important, especially if you engage in sexual activity, as it can help prevent minor complaints and irritations of the penis. The genital area does not require any more care than the rest of the body, therefore there is no need to be overly enthusiastic in your approach. To keep your penis clean, simply wash it with warm water and mild soap after every bath or shower. Draw back your foreskin to wipe any secretions that have accumulated at the glans (tip) of your penis if you haven’t been circumcised.
