Your skin may experience a range of side effects from color changes to hormone changes during pregnancy. Some women notice that their skin gets drier, while others notice that it gets greasier. Your pre-pregnancy skin issues, such as eczema, could either get better or get worse. Your individual hormone balance and basic skin type will determine how your skin is affected.
STRETCH MARKS
Stretch marks are red scars on the skin that disappear with time, leaving silver scar-like lines. They form when the skin is stretched beyond its usual range of elasticity as a result of fast weight gain. Stretch marks on the breasts and abdomen are common during pregnancy. If you acquire too much weight, they may appear on your thighs, buttocks, and upper arms.
Avoiding stretch marks
Try not to gain too much weight when pregnant. Those who keep their weight gain to a healthy 9-13kg (20-28lb) may nevertheless develop some markings. Regular application of any sort of cream or oil does not prevent or heal stretch marks, but it might help to relieve skin dryness.
